I’ve just returned home from Sri Lanka (I was there for my son’s wedding). What a wonderful country!
Sri Lanka, officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, is an island country in the northern Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the Indian subcontinent in South Asia.
Sri Lanka has a documented history that spans over 3,000 years, but there are facts to suggest that Sri Lanka had pre-historic human settlements dating back to at least 125,000 years.
It’s a beautiful but complex country and indeed a melting pot of culture, religion and race. The wedding, through careful planning, and months of hard work, succeeded in marrying not just my Scottish-born son to his beautiful Sri Lankan bride, but merging a diverse group of open minded people. Guests included those from New Zealand, Australian, Africa, Canada, Germany, the UK and of course myself, a Scots now resident in Ireland.
